Deadman's Point Motocross began competition in the summer of 1968. Located in the High Desert of SoCal about 90 minutes from the LA basin, the track had a nice population of CZ's in all 250 & 500cc classes. DMP was the very first stadium style MX track in the Nation and BERTUS had an important role of supplying bikes and parts for this race venue - probably most all of them! Other local shops in SoCal carried CZ's and parts as well. The Point had a great family atmosphere and would regularly turn out 200-300 riders on Sunday! This recently released video captures the essence of Deadman's. We hope you enjoy.

Bertus at the 2016 DMCZWC Event
Mr. Bertus loaded up his Dodge van with CZ wares, some CZ books and drove over 8 hours to the 2016 Don Matthews CZ World Championship event in Marysville, CA. The event attracted over 350 riders of which Bertus has supplied thousands of parts for the riders machines, hundreds of thousands worldwide. Most all of them had never met Bertus in person so this gathering of CZ'dom enabled them to finally meet the man who keeps the CZ world of motocross alive!

This
is just one of many photographs of probably the greatest assemblage of CZ
motocross machinery the world has yet seen in one place! It's as if the CZ
Factory had opened again producing them. There were CZ's in modified race trim, lightly and highly modified, to CZ's in showroom original condition. Fantastic effort by all, Mr. BERTUS was right at home.

The Suitcase ESO 500
Mr. Bertus passion and pure knowledge of his craft is legendary not only with weekend motocross warriors, but with professionals in the industry as well. One example of Bertus craftsmanship is this fabulous 100% original 1959 ESO 500 Moto-Cross machine he restored. What makes this build unique you see is, the bike traveled to the US in Bertus suitcase part by part over a few trips to Europe! It's a very fascinating story that could only be told in the classic Bertus color and detail that included some very tense moments in Eastern Europe. The bike now resides in Tom Whites Early Years of Motocross Museum in California. Tom honored Joel Robert in 2006 at his museum where this photo was snapped of Bertus and his incredible build project, the Suitcase ESO 500!

The BERTUS Factor
Mr. BERTUS has been a worldwide leading supplier, designer/engineer, craftsman of CZ motocross parts and motorcycles for over 50 years. His knowledge and abilities by those in the industry who know him and or have been customers for decades is without equal. Since the early years as a technical employee for American JAWA, owning the second largest CZ-JAWA dealership behind Joe Kubicek (both in LA county) racing 2 wheel and sidecar motocross during and beyond the infancy of American motocross, this pioneering motocross professional has literally and continues to feed and support CZ motocross enthusiasts worldwide with NOS, newly engineered and rare used parts. Bertus 1970's era shop is now the largest supplier in the world of CZ-JAWA wares. And to this day, ALL without a computer or email in sight! He is a one man industrialist extraordinaire who says his computer is between his ears. A forgotten God given design in today's world.
